Why is Angelina an “Accidental” Activist?

Turned into a Global Advocate

Angelina became an outspoken advocate for maternal mental health after her diagnosis and hospitalization of postpartum depression (PPD). Spicer is not only using her voice in comedy clubs across the America, she is also working with lawmakers in California and on Capitol Hill to implement laws to support early motherhood.

Spicer’s work to improve outcomes for mothers has expanded beyond just the US, and includes working alongside birthing communities and international governments throughout Africa and in Israel.

Maternal Mental Health Advocate

Angelina became an outspoken advocate for maternal mental health after her diagnosis and hospitalization of postpartum depression (PPD). Spicer is not only using her voice in comedy clubs across the America, she is also working with lawmakers in California and on Capitol Hill to implement laws to support early motherhood. In 2019 Angelina was honored by then Senator Kamala Harris for her work in CA with Black Maternal Health week. Spicer’s work to improve outcomes for mothers has expanded beyond just the US, and includes working alongside birthing communities and international governments throughout Africa and in Israel. Spicer has worked with some of the world’s most trusted healthcare institutions like Cedars Sinai Hospital, Mental Health America, the World Health Organization. She has been featured in USA Today, NPR, and Essence magazine’s Woke 100.

Angelina is a current health equity fellow of Families USA, Hillary Clinton’s Vital Voices, and serves as the newly elected Vice President of the PTA at her daughter’s elementary school.
